Weekend Project: How To Easily Remove Old Wallpaper

The one complaint I hear from my clients is that the do not want the “hassle” of wallpaper. A misconception is that you have to have it professionally removed with a ton of chemicals and a ton of costs. We have found a more affordable and natural way to accomplish this.

What you need:

  1. Gloves and Goggles
  1. Scoring tool
  1. A Gallon of White Vinegar
  1. Water
  1. Spray bottle (Large) or Sponge

First use the scoring tool to slightly tear the wallpaper.

Mix equal parts vinegar and hot water in a spray bottle or other container.

Then, using the spray bottle or sponge apply the mixture to the wallpaper, and allow it to soak in for thirty minutes.

Then, slowly peel the wallpaper off the wall. Small areas at a time

If there are still spots of wallpaper that did not remove, use the spray again and remove gently with a puddy knife.

Finally, wash the wall as you normally would and prep for paint.

Many Blessings!
